Horse Camp
This one is a crowd pleaser every year! We love to offer horse camp to beginners and more advanced riders alike. However, our program is small and we like it that way – so our regulars will always have first priority over lesson spots! That said – we do try to offer several weeks of camp to give as many kids as possible the best week of their summer break – and maybe an introduction to a lifelong passion.
Horse camps are divided into very small groups of 3-4. This gives everyone plenty of one-on-one attention, so they maximize their saddle time and learning. We also have fun crafts, games, and time in the pool. Horses are always the center of our camp. Riders will go home exhausted, dirty, and happy – as kids should be!
Summer Camp Activities:
- 1-1.5 hrs of riding
- Learning Activity ( parts of the horse, parts of the saddle, types of jumps, etc.)
- Games ( trivia, foot jumping – always a crowd favorite somehow! )
- Arts and Crafts
- Horse care ( leading, grooming, tacking, bathing, basic horse chores like building haynets, mixing feed, etc )
- Swimming in the pool!!!
Advanced Horse Camp:
Advanced horse camp is strictly limited to existing lesson students who are riding on a weekly basis. It often involves the above element, plus the following:
- Riders build their own showjumping course (with guidance)
- More advanced horse care techniques like healthcare, applying wraps and bandages, clipping, etc.
- Dressage Ride-a-Test
- Mock cross-country
- Horse Show Prep (packing a trailer, prepping horses for competition, learning dressage tests )
- Of course — plenty of time to kick back and have fun!
